Monday 1-23-12
In Lonnie's class today she reviewed the musical echoing song that we did last week and the students were presented with a fill in the blank worksheet. They were then asked to complete an additional reading with many of the same verbs and vocabulary from the song, but used in a different context. These are all very useful forms of assessment, because it continues to reinforce what the students learned over the last two weeks, and shows which students are still struggling.

Blog entry for ATLP at CNM for Spanish 1
My first class took place on Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 and it was a great beginning to the spring semester. I am student teaching with Mrs. Daizovi's 9:00 to 11:00 am class and then in Mrs. Conte's 11:00 to 12:30 class. Mrs. DaiZovi started off class by introducing me and then moving to a great exercise on the Promethean Board. The exercise involved a call and response song about "Juan."
Juan es un muchacho. Es un estudiante. Tiene una mochila. Con mucho adentro. Hace la tarea. Por la noche. Por la maƱana, y va a la escuela.
After the song we moved to an exercise that related directly to the song. Mrs. DaiZovi then explained to me that her methodology in call and response songs focuses on a lot of repetition of a few words. This reminds me a lot of the Pensler methodology.
In the second class with Mrs. Conte we watched a Puerto Rican film called Casi Casi and performed an exercise that related to the content of the film.
